Well that’s a stupid conditional. How about this: if we were all trees, would we still be in relationships? I think not. But we’re not trees, and we have genitals. A better question would’ve been, “if you couldn’t have sex all the time with your bf/gf, would you still be in a relationship?”. For many people, the answer to that question is ‘yes’. The reasons why they would answer ‘yes’, are the reasons why we have relationships.
