I’m in love with one of my friends, and I just found out that she likes me too. MLIG!
But, I’ve never dated a black girl before, and I honestly don’t know what my parents or friends from home would say. FML?

You’re probably a dude, but it might’ve been easier if you were an openly gay chick ‘cuz your parents would be big hypocrites for tolerating a homosexual relationship but not an interracial one.

aww yay! go for it
if you’re worried about what those people will say, try not to make an issue of her race & be secure about it yourself, and you’ll probably feel better about telling them.

geez…why does race ever have to matter? like who you like, love who you love, sex who you sex, and move on…if approval is a problem she probably won’t be with you for long. If your trust fund is at stake be sure to know what’s “expected” of you. haha

A Jewish woman married LeRoi Jones! …They got divorced, probably because of his intense anti-semitism (I never understood how she could marry him), but it you’re not racist, you should be okay.

If your parents care about you and you care about someone, they’ll like it. Or at least deal with it. Your friends from home? pshhh. You aren’t at home anymore, and even if they don’t tolerate it, at least now you’re aware of your sucky racist friends. Go for it!

I’m happy for you. I get that interracial relationships can be difficult to start, but you both know you like each other, so the hard part is taken care of! Still, if you supposedly love her and don’t go for it because of other people’s opinions, I pity your lack of confidence in yourself and your potential relationship. Also, we’re awesome!! lol

If you two like each other you should go for it. Race shouldn’t matter.
Though I’m curious, do you know if she’s dated a white guy before/is she at all phased by your racial difference?

err. this whole thread feels creepily paternalistic. ‘oh, great for you, you’re dating a black person, you’re so PC.’ the fact that you’re even worrying about it is sad, unless your parents are neonazis or something.
no matter how well-intentioned we are, the fact that someone even thought to post this just shows how close-minded our school, and country, is….. : /

I think the commenters (including me above) were happy for the OP not because he(?)’s getting into interracial dating but because he’s found out the person he likes likes him back, and reciprocated love makes people happy.
